Go Daddy Hosting ?

This is not my usual cup of tea, but a client is asking about web hosting. I am only familiar with Go Daddy. I used them to register our domain name and signed up for their hosting package. We got the basic hosting package, it's pretty inexpensive and works OK for us.

I know our client is looking for something with more storage and a better transfer allotment...so what are some good alternative to Go Daddy Hosting?

I would NOT recommend GoDaddy hosting unless you are looking for a more basic service that is not configurable. There are better alternatives that allow you root access which lets you make changes needed for some applications. For example, many features in popular CRMs like Drupal and Joomla require root access.

Want to optimize your database?? For example want to set memory limits in MySQL? You can't do that with basic hosting (GoDaddy or otherwise). It's very hard to do in Godaddy. Good luck getting their customer service to do it for you. They won't.

Another vote for finding an alternative to GoDaddy hosting. They are one of the biggest hosting companies as well as domain registrars, but GoDaddy will try to sell you about a thousand other products and services, constantly.

Of course what hosting company you go with depends on what your client needs. Hosting is good for most basic websites, but you can't get root access with a regular hosting account, and as websites become more involved, you will need root access. So go with a virtual private server or dedicated server in those cases.
